The Riveters hosted the Rockford Starfires on a steamy Sunday afternoon. The pitchers started the game hotter than the batters, as the first inning passed scoreless and hitless, with each pitcher recording two strikeouts. The Riveters bats came alive in the bottom of the second with a two-run, two-out rally to give the home team an early lead. The third inning was a big inning for the Riveters, as they plated eight runs. Two of the runs were driven in by rookie Caitlin, who stroked a sweet double. She later scored when Shae hit an absolute bomb for a triple. The Riveters added a run on the fourth on an RBI single by Heather to give them an 11-0 lead. The Starfires got their first hit and run in the fifth, then added two more in the top of the seventh. Final score Riveters 11, Starfires 3. In the victory, the three Riveters pitchers combined for a strong outing, throwing seven strikeouts and giving up just three runs (one earned) while the defense fielded 12 of 14 chances cleanly.
